In the Word: 1 Corinthians

  • Google Calendar ICS

In the Word offers weekly in-depth study of the Bible, typically focusing on one Biblical book at a time. Join us for our latest offering beginning December 7 as we examine 1 Corinthians. In it, the great apostle to the Gentiles carefully instructs his friends on principles of contemporary Christian living. The issues addressed are as timely today as when St. Paul penned his Spirit-inspired words around 55 AD - factions, church discipline, disputes among church members, sexuality, marriage, questionable practices, proper public worship, the Lord's Supper, spiritual gifts, true love, and the centrality of the doctrine of resurrection. The believers in first century Corinth struggled with the problem of holy living just as we do today. In this class led by Randall Rhodes, Allen Roberts, and others, we will endeavor to mine the spiritual treasures of Paul's epistle for rich applications to our lives as disciples of Christ.

Crowd-Sourced Christianity

So often our most pressing questions about faith and the Bible go unanswered and even unasked. But what if the quest for deeper faith starts with asking tough questions that ultimately lead to the honest, unchanging truths of the Gospel? What if we crowd-sourced our questions about Christianity and offered a set of evening talks to explore how the Bible engages with those questions?

Join us this fall on Wednesday nights from Sep 11 - Oct 9, at 7 p.m. for a series of public forums led by Rev. Dr. John Frederick as we consider our most pressing crowd-sourced questions about the Christian faith! Do you have a pressing question about the Christian faith or the Bible? Submit HERE for consideration. Register HERE for the course.

Paul's Letters: 10 Truths that Change Everything

Saint Paul wrote thirteen letters. Every word of them is Holy Scripture. But, they can be hard to understand! In this ten-week class, TFCA’s Pastor of Discipleship, John Frederick along with several special guest lecturers, will offer an overview of Paul’s writings by diving into ten themes at the heart of them. Join us as we not only seek to better understand Paul’s teachings on ideas like justification and election, but also ask how they impact our lives today. Each class is a stand-alone class and not reliant on the prior class, so if you miss a session, it’s not a problem. Simply come ready to learn, engage, and ask any questions that might come to mind. REGISTER HERE

Parents of Baptismal Candidates Class

Like Jesus, we welcome all children to come to him. As one of the church’s Sacraments, baptism requires the participants or parent sponsors "to be instructed in the meaning of Baptism and the Christian faith." (Book of Common Prayer) Therefore, attending this Baptism class is required for both parents.
