Worship and music
The Falls Church Anglican Worship Ministry is a community of worship volunteers who seek to glorify God and lead God’s people in joyful, reverent, and sincere worship. Using their unique gifts and abilities, these volunteers have a desire to support the corporate worship of God’s people during our three Sunday services, special events and more.

TRADITIONAL MUSIC

Description:
Looking for those who would like to play an instrument in the 9 a.m. service.
Skills Needed:
Proficient on a classical instrument, such as brass, strings, woodwinds, etc.
Training:
Need to be proficient instrumentalist and read music.
Membership Status:
Active congregant
Time Commitment:
Occasional Sundays: 8AM - 10:30AM plus extra services during Christmas/Holy Week.
Commitment Duration:

Description:
Rehearsals: Thursdays from 7:30PM - 9PM
Sunday Service:
8AM - 10:30AM, plus extra services during Christmas and Holy Week.
Skills Needed:
Need to be able to carry a tune.
Training:
Previous choir experience and ability to read music, helpful.

Thursdays: 7:30PM - 9PM
Sundays: 8AM - 10:30AM ongoing rotational plus extra services during Christmas/Holy Week.

Description:
Join the Adult choir to sing Handel's Messiah on December 6, 2025 and on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the 9:00 a.m. service.
Skills Needed:
Ability to sing in tune and read music.
Training:
Previous choir experience singing Handel’s Messiah.
Membership Status:

November 6th, 13th, 20th, and 25th from 8:30-9:30 p.m.
December 4th from 8:00-9:30 p.m.

Description:
The string ensemble is a group of musicians who use their gifts and talents to bless others through music during the services.
Skills Needed:
Proficient on violin, viola, or cello.

pRODUCTION

Description:
Sound and service production. Help placing microphones, running sound, and setting up equipment for worship. No experience needed—we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
Skills Needed:
Love of music, technically minded. Enjoys being behind the scenes.

On the job training, shadowing current members.

Description:
Operates remote cameras, video switcher, or tripod camera, ensuring consistent image quality and providing engaging views of the service to those watching the video feed.
Skills Needed:
Excellent dexterity, good eye for brightness, color, and framing/composition.
Training:
Observation of and coaching by an experienced operator.

Description:
Triggers timely display of text, graphics, leader cues, and pre-recorded items, on a computer, to enable congregational participation during worship services and similar events.
Skills Needed:
High attention to detail, comfort operating software. Familiar with the songs and hymns we sing.
Training:
Attending services regularly to observe and be coached by more experienced operators, practicing the timing and cues.

Description:
Activates lighting settings and other presets at appropriate moments during services and events.
Skills Needed:
Familiar with theatrical or video lighting. Able to distinguish color differences.

Observation and coaching from an experienced team member.

Description:
Band members serve by helping to lead worship in a variety of contemporary worship contexts.

LAY LITURGICAL SUPPORT

Acolytes (6th -12th grades) assist the Clergy and Vergers in the worship services.

Prepares elements and the Holy table for Communion; prepares elements for Baptism.

Altar Guild leaders provide training.

Description:
The Usher Guild is a ministry of service and hospitality. Ushers serve the church by assisting with all worship services.
Skills Needed:
Be able to greet both members and visitors with a smile, assist people on where to go throughout the service, and make everyone feel safe and at home.
Training:
Initially, ushers receive individual, on-the-job training. On occasion, ushers will receive training as a group.

Time Commitment:
The Sanctuary ushers serve one month each quarter. Except for the crew chief, the Cranmer Chapel ushers generally serve about one Sunday a month.
