“In the beginning was the Word…
…and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:1-5 )
How can we give testimony to this amazing mystery and God’s beautiful love story? As adults, many questions come to mind in reading these verses as we consider how God became man. Children perhaps with their limitless imaginations can teach us how to encounter this truth with childlike faith and imagination.
Bring your childlike faith and join us in the ‘waiting place’ of Advent as we absorb the infinity of God’s big plan for creation, salvation and unity between the creator and the creation. This Jesse Tree Advent Family Devotional will shed light on the genealogy of Jesus and together with your family you will discover together the grace and truth that was foreshadowed and prophesied from the beginning. Each day has a Scripture reading, a reflection question and either a prayer, song or activity that will help your family experience the season in the fullness of what God has for you.
You are your children’s best teachers of God’s Word, so bring it to life, share your testimony, express your own joy in having a Savior that has called you from death into life. God is the reason for the season, and the arrival of Christ the Savior is worth celebrating each and every day. Let this be the year your family settles into the experience of the supernatural love that we find in the journey between the manger and the cross. Let the 2020 Christmas season be so Christ-centered that love abounds and overflows into hope in our communities.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Praying your own hearts will be alight with the love God has for you as you enter in to the fullness of Christmas.
In peace, joy and love,
